Uhm... speechless.. O w8 something is coming up.. yep must be couse I'm high or something.

Ok..PvE about money really you got me there.
Like almost 7000 hours, playd over 4 years and I still have just around 40 K atm. Ok got some nice armors and weapons. But PvE for me is playing a game as I want it. not about economics or money,

So who is high, the one that clearly sees that GW is a game. or the one that thinks a game is about economics and money.

Peace m8

For those individuals who already have a bit of change in their pockets, but need a little more for some reason, minipets are a good quick turn around. I don't mean high end minis, I mean mid range ones like gwen. Generally speaking, you can find old players just returning, or simply new players that don't know the value of their minis, and can get good ones for fairly cheap if you advertise for them correctly. In many cases, people simply get frustrated trying to sell the mini at its true value, and willingly sell it much cheaper.

The general idea is to advertise to buy ALL minis, and everytime you get a pm, ask what they have and the amount they are looking for or b/o. You will get many "duds" through this method, simply ignore the pms from these. However, with a certain amount of luck you will have some success. This is not scamming as those people are willingly selling you the mini at the cost they think is appropriate.

The danger of this:
-You may get stuck in the same position as many other ppl - being unable to sell the mini for a profit, and taking a loss. The best insurance of this is not to buy minis for only slightly under their market price. Try to get them for a minimum of 20k under the norm price. Another insurance is to stay with more recent minis. 1st and 2nd year minis are becoming more common all the time, and thus also harder to sell.

If you decide to try this, don't be afraid to go for a bold price. If a seller is unwilling to give you a price, offer him at least 30-40k under the price and simply lay off if he seems to know his prices. If a seller gives you an already low price, try to push it a little farther - usually about 10k more depending on the seller, the price he gave, and the mini.

This is good for those who already have some startup plat and a little patience, but have become bored with farming. Its like the baby version of powertrading.

IMPORTANT NOTE: look at what minis are common, despite the price you can get it for, as this will affect how quickly you can sell the mini and your profit margin.

I use my Elementalist and Warrior to farm feathers. NM Jaya Bluffs. Takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to get a stack. I then sell that stack of feathers for 10k to someone in Spamadan. It got me my Everlasting Cottontail tonic.

I think my biggest tip would be, dont keep looking at how much money you got. Just do your everyday things like urgoz, zmissions, etc etc and itll slowly creep its way up without you noticing.

If you want instant big money, then learn DoA or sit in Kamadan for hours on end power trading.

Stop spending. That's all you need to know to improve 'your' economy.

And to ryan__ryan: guess I'm high then
I play PvE to enjoy doing some stuff with friends and guildies.
They ain't into PvP and I'm still not sure if I want to switch to pure PvP.
Stupid pain in my shoulder isn't helping either since I want to be serious when playing PvP. It was almost gone and I was able to play again and *ploink* it was back again when I looked over my shoulder when riding my bike.
But for most players PvE will be about goodies and gold indeed.

How To Improve YOUR Economy
Emphasis on the "YOUR". The OP is starting a discussion on money saving and money making ideas for optimizing the individual's finances and not shifting the game's global economy in to producing mass wealth.

On topic:

I find that con sets are a reliable way to make money. I use materials that I find throughout general gameplay and buy other materials that I don't have so that I can craft cons and sell in ToA. I'll never own a Kanaxai or Panda off of those earnings but I get by.

The benefit of consumables is that they're always in high demand and don't take long to sell, which is ideal for those who hate standing around and spamming.

Don't forget to run round all the unlocked treasure locations every now and then for free gold and itamz! Mind you, they don't seem as generous as they used be, but whatever.

Personally, I don't care for expensive rare-but-ugly weapons or armour, rare minipets everlasting tonics etc. No use to me, and I don't care about e-peen. I've also maxed all the money-sink titles I wanted. So I don't need to farm, and my money just piles up from "regular" play. Like others above, that's how I improve my economy - remove the "need" for large amounts of money.

I don't get rich though, because every now and then, I'll spend my stash on making consumables, summoning stones, improve my heroes' equipment etc. I don't particularly need such things, but they let me do things quicker when I want to.

Without farming and trading, the best way to acquire wealth is questing.
In Prophecies you'll save in skills instead earning much, though.

Stack up on holidays items - even tho I guess we'd be a bit late atm . Still, I have around 15 stacks of clovers (costed me like ~40k a stack), 15 stacks bday cupcakes (~55k), eggs and bunnies (~25k eggs, ~55k bunnies). Haven't played since the bday celebration and just saw my investments have shot up a bit .

Easiest is just the Xunlai tournament betting, but it seems it didnt work out a couple (?) of times

Wow, this went from a thread of lists, to a flame thread and serious argueing. (spelling?)

I know you don't NEED this stuff, but some people like it, and I'm trying to make a list of ways that they can get it. Oh, and the "stop spending", "buy the things you need" posts, maybe it's all some people enjoy, because they finished PvE and PvP is boring or frustrating/un-enjoyable.

God I hate cable news. Now anytime someone wants to talk about money, economics is involved. Journalists should be rounded up and provided with a real education.

Folks, it's the study of interrelated systems that may or may not involve money. Plenty of economists make a career out of studying health care, education, and sumo wrestling, and much of their research is focused on outcomes and utility rather than purely financial matters.

A more appropriate title would be "How to improve your finances!"

Or

"Rich Gamer, Poor Gamer"

55 or 600 to farm for the item Nicolas want. People will pay 3k at the first day and 1-2k later up to how hard to farm.

Remember to sell extra materials to traders instead of merchant. Some of them are worth quite a bit more that way.

This is quite good thing to do, in prophecies core classes can potentially save a lot of platinum from skill quests and in other campaigns quest reward collectables (particularly vabbian trade contracts) can generate a good amount of cash as well.

The economy you speak of is artificial in nature and completely optional.

Only the optional "elite" weapons and armor cost more in game. They don't have any increase in effectiveness.
QFT, ive lost the will to even want to buy those "elite" items especially since everyone basically has it

I have found that throughout my entire three years of playing Guild Wars, I have never had over 50k at a time. This would mean that I have a fairly average wallet, but I would always spend it all for, let's say, an elite armor or a single weapon. I was stupid and young.

Since I got back into the game with a new account (previous one was hacked), I only had 1.6k. I'm in a tight budget, but I still see that if you are extremely serious about not spending any money at all than you can get some large amount of cash within a month. Instead of saving, I've decided to spend over half of my 1.6k on a weapon that I found was in my budget and would most likely last me throughout HM, etc. Overall, spending my first 1k would save me over 100k in weapons that a person would normally buy as they progress in the game. That's the key to this economy and surviving Guild Wars - Having a budget and buying items which will, in turn, save a lot more money than you'd expect.

I find the majority of my money gets wasted from trying out new builds and getting the equipment for such builds.
